A beautiful survivor from the 19th century. This 1868 edition of The Vision: or Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise of Dante Alighieri was published in New York by D. Appleton & Company and translated by Rev. Henry Francis Cary. It features classic marbled boards and engraved illustrations including Dante portraits and scenes from the poem.
The book shows honest age and wear—fraying at the edges, spine damage, and staining—but it still displays wonderfully and has incredible character.
A striking piece for a library, study, or dark-academia vignette.
