Few color effects in American art glass are as immediately arresting as amberina — and this Fenton compote delivers it at full intensity. The deep ruby red of the dramatically ruffled bowl melts through warm tangerine-orange at the baluster stem, settling into a glowing yellow-chartreuse disc foot. The transition is seamless and luminous, shifting with every angle of light.
The bowl is worked in Fenton’s classic thumbprint / optic panel pattern — elongated oval impressions that catch and refract light across the interior — and finished with a deeply crimped, free-formed ruffle that fans out dramatically from the stem. The flat disc foot grounds the piece with quiet elegance. A quintessential example of Fenton’s mid-century decorative glass production, c. 1960s–70s.
Equally at home as a fruit bowl, a jewelry or key dish, or a pure decorative object on a mantle or shelf. The color alone earns its place in any room.
